Seattle Visit
Scott Mclean
Making another trip to Seattle.
Unfortunately to the hospital and possible spine fusion.
I’m going to take the time to reflect on more enjoyable coastal visits. I missed out on the worlds fair as a kid. My older sister went with the adults but I had to stay at my aunts house because Steve was too young. Mom said it wouldn’t be fair for me to go and Steve not.
That sucked.
There were plenty of visits to the site in other years but no world’s fair. Of course Sandy made a point of repeatedly telling me how great it was. The gum in her hair later was an accident. I’m sticking to that story.
A trip to the top of the space needle was a whole fifty cents!
My Aunt and Uncle would take us to Woodland Park and most of the tourist must sees. There was always a lunch stop at Spud’s on Alki. Fish and chips on the beach! The relatives had beach property down from Saltwater state park. Plenty of goofing off in the water, fishing, and getting clams. We even watched one Seafair night parade.
We sometimes visited another relative over there. One of the boys who was quite a bit older than me drove a bug and had a pet boa. Great fun for an 8 year old to run around with. Shooting fireworks over the bay on the 4th was awesome.
The waterfront and aquarium were frequent stops. I’d never want to live there but have many fond memories of visits. This trip is not looked upon with happiness and I admit to a little trepidation. Hope everyone is enjoying summer and I will probably be writing as I heal if they decide to open me up again.
Bye for now.
