Questionable People
Scott Mclean
I am going to continue my observations on the human (sometimes questionable) species. Excuse my terminology but even the very old can be dicks.
My wife will tell you that I constantly watch and notice random acts or objects.
There is one elderly man who parks his wheelchair in the congested corner by the nurses station. There are usually several carts there and when he thinks no one is looking he will move one close enough to his feet to block the hall. He then pretends to be asleep. I accidentally (not) knocked over a tray behind him and he almost wet himself. He gives me dirty looks now but leaves me an open path.
One resident brags about how much he can fill his diaper for the staff to clean. I called him an inconsiderate idiot and he doesn’t like me now either.
Don’t get me wrong there are plenty of good people here.
We have a couple who scream or holler from their rooms with definite mental issues. There is a woman who sits in the hall cussing and screaming at them to shut up. Staff has to tell her to stop.
I’ll end it with a real doozie. There is a smoking area in the back lawn area. There are tables on a patio outside the dining room for resident use on nice days. There are no smoking signs by each table. A member of the Yakama nation sits there and smokes. She says it’s part of her religion and staff says there is nothing they can do. She goes so far as to blow smoke at people coming out and says she’s blessing them. This is followed by a cackling laugh. I wonder what she would do if I passed gas next to her and said it was a blessing from my religion.
Getting by here. Talk later.
