Potty Humor
Scott Mclean
You’ll have to excuse me for the “potty” humor in this one.
I’ve mentioned that Steve sometimes sleepwalked and that our house came with a ghost.
Steve got spooked one night by thinking he saw our resident spook and asked if he could sleep in my room. I reluctantly said yes.
I woke up feeling wet and turned to look at Steve. He was laying on his back and peeing straight in the air with his eyes open. I hollered and jumped out of bed. He then shook his head and looked confused. I realized he had not really been awake.
He outgrew all of this within a couple of years. I made him switch mattresses with me and booted him back to his own room.
Soon after we got our 10 speeds we wanted to take a longer ride.
Dad hauled us and our bikes to Selah to pick apples for our Uncle Stan. We then started the ride home.
We had a little climb from his house to Selah Heights road. We then got to ride down the long hill on Maple Way which was fast and fun. It was a long grind to cross highway 12 and go along the river to Schuller grade.
My stomach had started rumbling and the hard climb up Schuller proved to be too much. I ended up cleaning myself with an orchard sprinkler near the top of the grade. Of course Steve was laughing at me and threatening to tell everyone. I countered with a threat about his pee fountain but he claimed not to care.
The rest of the ride home was long, uncomfortable, and punctuated by Steve’s laugh.
I got my revenge about a month later.
My friends Mom had sent a couple of pieces of chocolate cake with a mixture of vanilla and chocolate frosting home with me. I chopped up about half a box of ex-lax on one piece and told Steve he could have it.
The next morning we were headed up Cowiche Mountain when it hit him. He ended up cleaning up in the canal.
I never did tell him about what I did to the cake but now held a threat over his head.
Yes we insulted each other and sometimes played mean tricks. I’ve told you before about country boys back then finding ways to amuse themselves!
I looked back over my shoulder a lot for a few weeks.
Goodbye for now.
